Ireland finally transposes EU Web Accessibility Directive into Irish law

Web Accessibility Directive transposed into Irish law

We are very happy to note that the EU Web Accessibility Directive has been transposed into Irish law, or Directive 2016/2102 (EU) of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016, if you wish to be fancy. It happened on Sept 23rd and was brought into effect by Minister Eamon Ryan.

There was sadly little fanfare, which is a pity as we all need as many good news stories as we can get these days. Suffice to say this is great, and will give public sector websites the impetus to improve the accessibility of their services to people with disabilities.
