InterAccess - Our year in accessibility - 2024 overview

It has been a very busy year for us at InterAccess.

We have provided our accessibility consultancy services including accessibility auditing, accessibility training and usability testing with people with disabilities to the Royal Irish Academy, the Irish Central Bank, the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), Dublin City Council, Work Human, Public Jobs, Viking Cloud, Department of Social Protection, NTA.

We have also provided training, and completed over 30 accessibility audits for the ESB this year where we worked on the many components that make up ESB.ie, Electric Ireland and more. Great work is being done at ESB to improve access for people with disabilites internally and externally, with more to come in the new year.

Finally, in the new year I look forward to continuing on with some more accessibiity user needs research work with the W3C and am very happy to been asked to contribute to the Research Questions Task Force draft Accessibility of machine learning and generative AI document.

Here we will critially explore the potential of these new emerging technologies as well evaluate how they can and should, be used to substantially support people with disabilities.

This will build nicely to the previous work I contributed to on XR Accessibility, WebRTC, and Natural Language Interface user requirements while I was working at W3C. Thanks to Scott Hollier, Jason White and Janina Sajka for asking me to get involved again!

A peaceful and happy Xmas to us all.
