Learn about the the European Accessibility Act, the technical standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); what they are, understand success criteria failure and success, and how you can measure the accessibility of your websites and services under the European Accessibility Act (EAA).
In this module, you will learn about the new European Accessibility Act, as well as the technical standard EN 301 549. We will also cover the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) which makes up the lions share of the conformance requirements for EN 301 549.
You will learn how these standards and guidelines are structured, and will gain an understanding of each of the 4 WCAG principles (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust). We’ll walk through the success criteria (SC) that we can test our content against.
We’ll help to explain differences between EN 301 549 and WCAG and if you have been working towards WCAG comformance any extra things you may need to do to ensure you meet the technical requirements of EN 301 549 under the EAA.
After completing the module, you’ll have a clearer picture of what EN 301 549 and WCAG are, and how we use them to evaluate our content for accessibility, determine your level of conformance to the European Accessibility Act and and understand how to avoid the more common accessibility issues.
